Fixed simultaneous interpreting booths must comply with ISO standard 2603. Transportable cabins are subject to ISO standard 4043. In addition to technical requirements and equipment, these standards also contain provisions regarding ventilation and a direct view of the speaker. Simultaneous interpreting booths are soundproofed and allow both conference interpreters to concentrate on their work in adequate conditions and listeners to follow the event in their target language virtually in real time. The soundproofing of the interpreting booth also means that the other listeners who are listening to the original language are not disturbed. Loss-free communication is ensured.
