Specialized Translations

Specialized translations are translations of texts or documents that relate to specific areas of expertise or industries. In contrast to general translations, specialist translations require a deep understanding of the subject area as well as specialized terminology and conventions.

This type of translation covers a wide range of subject areas, including law, medicine, technology, science, finance and many others.

Specialized translations are particularly important when it comes to highly technical content, as errors in the translation can have serious consequences. In addition to excellent language skills in order to translate texts accurately and comprehensibly, professional specialized translators usually have a particular expertise in the field in which they translate.

Why should you choose a specialized translator?

  1. Expertise in the respective technical field: Specialized translators often have additional qualifications or degrees, or extensive experience in a particular subject area. This allows them to understand and correctly translate specialized terminology. Without this expertise, translations could be inaccurate or misleading.
  2. Precision and accuracy: In specialized texts, precision and accuracy is paramount.
  3. Cultural understanding: Specialized translators not only understand the technical terminology, but also the cultural differences, which can have an impact on the translation. They take cultural nuances into account and adapt the translation accordingly to ensure that the text is adequately understood in the target language.
  4. Consistency: Specialized translators ensure that the terminology and style remain consistent throughout the translation. This is particularly important for large documents or when translating materials that are important for a consistent brand identity.
  5. Specific requirements: Some technical areas have specific requirements for translations, be it in the legal, medical or technical fields. Specialized translators are familiar with these requirements and can ensure that the translation meets them.
We work according to the so-called four-eyes principle. But what exactly does that mean?

The four-eyes principle is a tried and tested method in the field of quality control of texts or documents, especially in the translation industry. It means that a document is checked by two people independently of each other in order to detect errors and ensure the quality of the work.

In the context of translations, this means that one translator translates the text and a second translator, who ideally also specializes in the respective field, checks the translation. The second translator looks for inconsistencies, errors in the translation, grammatical errors, style issues, etc. Therefore the four-eye principle increases the chances of finding and correcting errors and thus improves the quality of the translation.
