Consulting

Consulting for conference interpreting: we understand and speak your language.

What kind of event do you need conference interpreters for? Who, how, where? What is the objective, what will get you there? Every multilingual event raises many questions — what conference interpreters actually do, how many interpreters per language combination you need and how teams prepare for an assignment. Klemke Language Services and our team have worked in the most diverse event settings for more than 25 years — from purely online events and hybrid formats to classic on-site formats. In addition we offer specialised translations for law, finance & technology.

Simultaneous or consecutive?

Most events call for simultaneous interpreters. There are also formats where consecutive interpreting is the right choice. Whichever mode fits, we contract only professional conference interpreters from our national and international network.

Specifics of your event

Are there special conditions — an outdoor venue, disruptive background noise, a specific confidentiality regime? We plan from the ground up along your objective, setup and event format.

Hybrid as an opportunity for reach

We also advise you on different event setups and the opportunities of hybridising your event. The latest technology lets us engage audiences that organisers otherwise would not have reached.

Equipment

Simultaneous booths, receivers & technology — ISO 4043 compliant.

For professional simultaneous interpreting in Frankfurt we plan the full conference technology: sound-insulated ISO 4043 interpreter booths, interpreter consoles, delegate microphones and receivers with headphones for every language channel. For hybrid conferences and RSI assignments we add interpreting hubs and platforms such as Zoom or Interprefy — matched to venue, audience size and language directions.

Sound-insulated interpreter booths

For on-site, hybrid and online events, simultaneous interpreters work from sound-insulated booths. This lets interpreters concentrate and lets audiences follow the original sound without interruption.

Receivers & headphones for the audience

At multilingual events and silent events, listeners pick their preferred language channel via receivers and headphones and follow the event without disturbance.

Simultaneous interpreter booths compliant with ISO 4043:2016 (mobile booths)

ISO 4043:2016 specifies requirements for mobile simultaneous interpreter booths. The technical requirements were transferred to ISO 20109 in 2016. ISO 2603 defines the standards for built-in booths — covered in detail in our FAQ: What technology is needed for conference interpreting?. Key characteristics of compliant booths:

01

Size & fit-out

Enough space for at least two interpreters and their equipment — comfortable, with good sight lines and lighting.

02

Sound insulation

Adequate sound insulation minimises outside noise and ensures clear communication for the interpreters.

03

Ventilation & climate

Ventilation and climate systems keep the working environment comfortable, including for long assignments.

04

Electrical installation

Sufficient outlets for interpreter consoles, lighting and multimedia devices.

05

Access & mobility

Easy transport and set-up — through transport fittings and modular design.

06

Ergonomics

Ergonomic fit-out reduces strain during long assignments and creates comfortable working conditions.

Conference interpreting

Simultaneous & consecutive interpreting — lossless understanding.

Simultaneous interpreting for conferences and annual general meetings, consecutive interpreting for speeches and press conferences, negotiation and whispered interpreting for small groups — we pick the right mode for your format, German · English.

Rendering an audience into another language almost in real time via simultaneous interpreting is what we love. As is consecutive interpreting, escort interpreting and negotiation interpreting. The highest linguistic and subject-matter standards are a given.

To guarantee the best-qualified support, we work with a strong professional network of specialists in a range of disciplines — all experts in intercultural communication. For every kind of event: seminars, workshops, supervisory board and management board meetings, product kick-offs, sales meetings, press events, roadshows, expert congresses, trade fairs, inaugurations and company anniversaries.

Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, many events have taken place as fully online or hybrid formats using Zoom, Webex or Microsoft Teams. Conference interpreters join from interpreting hubs — or are partly on site while participants join online. Online interpreting and Zoom interpreting are as much a part of our service portfolio as classic on-site formats.

Organisation

Organising conference interpreter assignments — we ask the right questions.

From initial enquiry to the day of the event we coordinate the interpreter team, ISO 4043 booths, RSI technology, travel and preparation materials — for conferences in Frankfurt, across the DACH region and online.

After more than 25 years in the profession we have organised countless events and worked at them as conference interpreters ourselves. What does that mean for you? We know the product — and we ask the right questions.

Based on your answers we think ahead and take work off your plate. The effect: you can focus on the many other details that make an on-site, hybrid or online event. We take care of the interpreting.
